Dear Friends:
Here is my "reduced" issue of Colleagues List for the week.
I have been quite occupied with the preparation for a Lenten
Retreat and a continuing teaching load at my church. We are
also in the final stages of planning for our St. David's Spiritual
Travelers' tour of Eastern Europe and Russia just after Easter.
I hope to return to my regular format next week, but, for now,
let share my February column for the Anglican Journal.

WISDOM OF THE WEEK
Provided by Sojourners and the Bruderhof online:
Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.
- Maya Angelou

The thing is, we can't be in right relationship to
each other if we can't see each other. We can't
be fully present in any relationship if we're walling
off part of ourselves or hiding beneath a mask.
- Austen Hartke
--
People use up their lives in heartbreaking political
struggles, or get themselves killed in civil wars, or
tortured in the secret prisons of the Gestapo, not
in order to establish some central-heated, air-
conditioned, strip-lighted Paradise, but because
they want a world in which human beings love
one another instead of swindling and murdering
one another.
- George Orwell
--
The cross is not a defeat, but a victory. It is the dramatic
reassertion of the fact that God’s love is sovereign, that
the rulers of the world do not have the last word, that the
kingdom of God has defeated the kingdom of Satan, that
the kingdoms of the world have now become, in principle,
the kingdom of our God, and of his Messiah: and he shall
reign for ever and ever.
- N. T. Wright

CLOSING THOUGHT - - Ellen Painter Dollar
For me, the cross is about a God who is with us when
we suffer in a way that only someone who has also
suffered can.
